⚠️ The Human Cost of Automated HR: Dangers of Relying on AI
The promise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Human Resources (HR) is compelling: increased efficiency, faster hiring, and data-driven decisions. However, placing the entirety of your HR function into the hands of an algorithm—effectively allowing AI to become your HR department—carries significant legal, ethical, and organizational risks that far outweigh the purported benefits.
Algorithmic Bias and Discrimination
The most critical danger lies in algorithmic bias. AI systems learn from historical data, and if that data reflects past human biases—conscious or unconscious—the AI will not only replicate but often amplify them.
Erosion of Trust and Loss of the "Human Touch"
HR is fundamentally about people. Sensitive matters like conflict resolution, career development, wellness checks, and disciplinary action require empathy, context, and human judgment.
Data Privacy and Security Concerns
AI in HR handles enormous amounts of sensitive personal data—from application details and performance metrics to health information.

Yes, there is a value add, we use it too. But we are starting to see businesses rely completely on AI to create their policies, procedures, documents, and training. The perils of this are:
My team has more on how to use it and how to not use it below. I hope you’ll consider this information and really think about your AI strategy, the risks, and, of course, the people implications.
As we close out this (yet again) crazy year, I hope you know you’ve got a friend at The People Perspective. If you ever need to chat, run something past a friendly voice, or scream into the phone, we’re here for you.
Stay safe, my friends. And we hope you have beautiful, restful, and magical holidays.
