From handbooks to compensation strategy, here are a few ways to tidy up the people side of your business this season.
Spring has sprung! And in Oklahoma, the wind is indeed sweeping down the plains.
As we prepare for garage sale season and spring-cleaning season, The People Perspective is here with ideas on all things Spring Cleaning but Spring Cleaning related to your people practices.
Here are my tips and ideas:
Dust off that strategic plan and budget
Revisit what you planned at the beginning of the year and catch up on actioning and tasks; make any updates/changes and communicate to key stakeholders.
Clean the cobwebs off of your employee handbook/policies
If it has been more than one year since your policies have been reviewed, I can guarantee they are out of date. Make time to review, update, communicate and get employee acknowledgements.
Disinfect your compensation benchmarking and compensation strategy
In this volatile market, it is imperative that you have consistently updated compensation ranges for your roles; And that you have an aligned compensation philosophy that leaders understand and follow (think leading the market versus lagging; merit versus COLA, etc.)
Make sure your 2026 leadership development plan is spic and span
Revisit your leadership development plan and make sure you are actioning the investment in your leaders
Scrub your procedures/policies to make sure they reflect administrative changes/stance
See #2; If you haven’t revisited policies/procedures since the administration change in 2024, you are most likely not aligned with the stance that the EEOC and DOL are taking.
Happy cleaning! And reach out if we can be your professional organizers, but only for your people stuff.
