Kristi’s Korner: April Showers Bring May…. Employment Law Changes???

Yes, that is correct. April was a crazy month of legislation and decisions that will impact employment law and the way we operate our businesses for the foreseeable future.

A few of these changes, that my team has written more about below, include:

·        Final rulings on the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

·        Federal ruling on non-competes

·        New rule on the minimum salary for exempt employees

I hope you’ll keep scrolling for more information because these changes are BIG, individually, much less combined in one month.

This year, we have also seen changes to:

·        The Department of Labor’s definition of an Independent Contractor

·        The National Labor Relations Board Joint Employer Standard

·        And more, depending on what state you live in

It’s important to note, that these probably won’t be the last changes this year. Election years can be full of decisions that impact the way we lead our businesses.

We make it a priority to stay up to date on these changes so that you can focus on running your business. We can help in these areas, or any others that relate to your people. We take pride in being customizable to fit your exact needs, no more, no less.

Do you have questions about any of the above/below changes? Please reach out to us. Are you an employment law nerd like we are? Reach out to us and we can nerd out together.

I hope your May is filled with, not only employment law changes, but some flowers too.
