New Year, Same People—Let’s Do This Right

New Year, Same People—Let’s Do This Right

The start of a new year is more than goal-setting—it’s a chance to reconnect with your people and build a plan that sticks.

Happy New Year, TPP Community!

I love a new year! And I am even more eager to get this new show started after the silly year that was 2025. Here are some of the things that I love about a new year:

  • It’s a fresh start!
  • Setting goals (I am an amazing goal setter and often set WAY too many – 0/5 stars)
  • Unpopular opinion, I LOVE that the sun sets early (Don’t you come at me!)
  • I love the quiet before the storm of spring; literally and figuratively.
  • I like to strategize and plan for the new year.

And there are more, but that is enough for now. I’d love to hear where you land with the above and/or with why you love or hate a new year.

And regardless of where we all land, there’s a lot to do at the beginning of a new calendar year when it comes to your business and your people. My amaz-ible team is going to talk about many of those but here are my reminders:

  • If you haven’t already, check in with your people. How are they, what do they need, where do they want to go in the new year (hopefully not away from you), and how can you support them.
  • What is your business strategy in 2026? And how are you going to make sure you meet those associated goals? Let’s not wait until Q3 to get started on that.
  • Are there any people-y projects that need your attention this year? How are your policies? Are you paying competitively? Do you talk to your people? Do your people know how they are performing in real time (Not just at their annual performance review meeting)?
  • What are your development goals? Where are your opportunities?
  • Do you have a support system in place, internally and externally?

Again, there are more, but those are great starting points.

And I am NOT trying to add to your list. But my experience is that if we don’t make time for this work now, it will certainly get lost in the shuffle of the busyness of the new year.

Have people work to do in 2026? We would certainly love for you to consider letting us support you in that work. People work is literally our business, and I dare say we are experts.

I hope I hear from you soon and you let me know how goal setting is going. If not, I will assume you are hibernating and resting.

We’re here if you need us. Take care of yourselves – mean it.
