Accountant, Accounts Receivable

Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant for Accounts Receivable. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks in a multi-task environment, which may include working with sensitive and confidential data. The Accountant will manage student accounts, perform reconciliations, generate various reports, and assist with other accounting duties as assigned.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

Dashboard Creation: Create the morning Business Office dashboard, reporting on balances of all student accounts, both current and past due.

Month-End Close Support: Create various schedules related to the month-end accounting close.

Annual Reporting: Assist Student Financial Services with the financial portion of the annual FISAP report submitted to the Department of Education.

Higher Education Reporting: Prepare the annual Higher Education Research and Development report.

Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts receivable sub-ledgers to the general ledger, including student, research, and other types of receivables.

Journal Entries: Assist with monthly endowment and investment journal entries.

Collections Management: Work with outside collection agencies to receive payments on past-due balances and record them to the general ledger.

Perkins Loan Management: Manage Perkins loan accounts, including communications with outside agencies on Perkins loan reporting and payment collections. Prepare submissions to return inactive loans to the Department of Education.

Perkins Loan Reconciliation: Reconcile Perkins Loan balances reported by service providers to the general ledger.

Account Adjustments: Generate reports and move accounts between AR Types when needed, as well as other journal entries impacting accounts receivable.

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
