Salary: Competitive, DOE
We have an opening with an electronics manufacturer seeking an experienced SMT Operator 3. We’re recruiting on behalf of the manufacturer, and they’re looking for someone with hands-on experience assembling printed circuit boards, an eye for detail, and the ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
In this role, you’ll set up and operate equipment to build surface-mount and mixed-technology circuit board assemblies. You’ll use engineering drawings and parts lists to guide your work, inspect solder paste and component placement, and assist with hand soldering and rework as needed.
What You’ll Do:
-
Set up and operate automated surface-mount technology (SMT) equipment, load feeders, and manually place surface-mount and through-hole components.
-
Build assemblies using controlled parts lists and engineering drawings while meeting quality and production goals.
-
Inspect solder paste and component alignment, identify defects, and verify that assemblies meet applicable workmanship standards.
-
Monitor equipment and process settings, perform quality checks, and make adjustments to correct problems.
-
Assist with hand soldering, rework, and advanced troubleshooting. Wash boards as needed.
-
Perform daily preventive maintenance and keep required production logs and records.
-
Follow safety procedures, wear personal protective equipment as needed, and properly handle hazardous waste generated in your work area.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least four years of printed circuit board assembly experience.
- An associate degree in electronics technology or at least three years in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of the products being made.
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems with production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret load plans, engineering assembly drawings, and production drawings.
- Familiarity with SMT component packages, solder paste types, and their applications.
- Experience using hand tools, including calipers, and intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and machine-specific software.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a light manufacturing environment with moderate noise. The work involves standing, walking, sitting, and fine hand movements throughout the shift, with occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching.
