Operations Manager

We have an opening with a local manufacturing operation that’s been in business for decades and is now entering a growth phase—sales have increased by 30% over the last few years. This newly created Operations Manager role will oversee shop operations, production, and procurement across two facilities. Reporting directly to the President & General Manager, this role provides strategic and tactical leadership in manufacturing/fabrication, warehousing, safety, supply chain, and maintenance. The right person will have 10+ years in management of skilled teams, Lean implementation experience, and hands-on welding know-how. Decisive with a capital "D," this person makes 50+ decisions a day, can be challenged, explain reasoning, and is confident in their abilities and decision-making.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead by example with a Safety First mindset and build a best-in-class safety culture
- Oversee shop operations, production, procurement, and inventory management
- Implement Lean processes and drive continuous improvement to support 50%+ growth
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, HR, and Quality to align operations with strategic goals
- Develop and execute capital planning, production scheduling, and process optimization
- Build and manage a high-performing team with clear goals, KPIs, and accountability
- Ensure compliance with safety, equipment, and operational standards
- Partner with other operational leaders to share best practices and drive standardization
What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years managing skilled manufacturing or shop teams
- Strong background in operations, production, and procurement
- Experience with Lean implementation and hands-on welding know-how
- Proven ability to lead people, solve problems, and scale systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience with material handling, inventory control, and scheduling
